At the age of 24 years old, I knew I needed to make a change in my life. I was approaching 200lbs (90kgs) on my 25th birthday that year and I didn't like how I looked like in ALL my photos. I didn't feel comfortable in my clothes and I had a strong relationship with eating my feelings away with little to no discipline.
I joined Extreme Fitness that year and started going 1-2 times a week. I wasn't familiar with equipment so it was extremely awkward being in a facility with swole men and woman that had muscles so defined and prominent. Talk about intimidating!
I later then joined Goodlife Fitness, specifically a Women's Only site, where I gained much more confidence with asking for help with equipment use, muscles worked and I even tried out group fitness classes.
In February 2016, a fitness facility opened up at a nearby community recreation centre and I applied to work as Fitness Centre Staff. In April 2018, I completed the Canfitpro Fitness Instructor Specialist course, passed the exam and was assigned my first group fitness class that year in September.
I then branched out to other community centres in Toronto, ON and taught a variety of fitness classes: Cardio Dance, Cardio Mix, Boot Camp, Socasize, Stroller Fitness, just to name a few. My energetic drive to engage participants in a diversity of fun in-person fitness classes paused due to the unprecedented circumstance of the virus. This led to establishing the Sweat with Erin platform in June 2020.
Sweat with Erin is focused on delivering a variety of engaging, creative and affordable sessions! Operating on Zoom or in-person, classes or personal training sessions vary with equipment, bodyweight only options as well as weekday and weekend availability. Modifications are always provided for those who want low intensity options, and for those who want to kick up the intensity.
